Monday Chess Club K-5 Spring 2019

Monday Chess Club K-5

Grades K-5 Mondays 2:25-3:30 Tech/101

Chess is part of a healthy lifestyle, a fun social activity, and the most popular board game in history!  Playing chess improves memory, concentration, IQ, foresight, math skills, reading skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Students learn to play chess or improve their game. Students practice chess every week, including lessons or one-on-one play.  No prior chess experience is necessary.  All are welcome!  [New in Spring] Chess Club now includes four months of Gold Membership to ChessKid.com app (Windows- and Mac-accessible), where "Coach Ray" will provide student and parent access, chess lessons, puzzles, videos, and monitor student progress!! Extracurricular chess tournament play is optional but encouraged in order to motivate individual players and build team spirit! Kindergarteners must bring an adult (parent/guardian) with them at all times in order to help the Kindergartener focus, play with others, and take notes. Parents, please pack snacks for your students in case they are hungry. In addition, "Students vs. Adults" chess challenge on 6/7!  Club potluck and awards ceremony on 6/14!  Chess club uniforms available for purchase in May!  Double Deal: When parents register for two days of Chess Club per week (choose between Monday, Thursday, or Friday), then they receive a ten percent (10%) discount!
